The general objective of this article was to investigate the prevalence and the main congenital malformations caused by the Zika virus during pregnancy. In this contribution, we bring the historical contextualization of Zika, the prevalence and the main fetal malformations were discussed, hence the importance of this study. The bibliographic review and critical analysis of scientific studies were preferred as methodology, focusing on authors who addressed the historical context of the subject, as well as other writers who conducted updating of the subject and named fetal sequelae, such as the unfavorable form and the course of infection. Finally, the association between Zika and fetal abnormalities is briefly detailed, stating that the prevalence of microcephaly is still the most prevalent, where 80% of infected mothers have fetuses with this abnormality.
