Abstract

Dental extractions are common procedures in many orthodontic treatments. Typically, premolars are extracted from both sides, although asymmetric or unilateral extractions are less frequent. This article presents a clinical case in which an asymmetric extraction was performed on a patient with Class I malocclusion and severe crowding. The sectional technique with bends was applied to control movements and prevent deviations in the dental midline. The treatment results show improvement in both occlusal relationship and patient aesthetics, while maintaining vertical dimension and centered upper midline. In conclusion, the appropriate use of asymmetric extractions, combined with individualized and controlled mechanics for each patient, allows for effective treatment.
